Concannon Conservancy Crimson & Clover Wine Review

Concannon Vineyard & Winery was created and built by James Concannon in 1883 in California. Now 4 generations later, the winery and vineyard is flourishing and succeeding in every way. They are not only the industry leaders in wine, but they are determined to create the product you will love to taste.

Conservancy Crimson & Clover was created as a tribute to the father of John Concannon, Jim, for his 80th Birthday celebration that was help at the Concannon Vineyard In July 2011. The Crimson & Clover name reflects their Irish heritage- Clover symbolizing prosperity and Crimson symbolizing the strong, bright, deep red color of the wine.

I had a chance to review a Concannon Conservancy 2009 Red Table wine recently. It looked dark and luscious. The bottle says it is 50% Petite Sirah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, and 10% Zinfandel. I love all of these wines and I was excited to try a wine that blended all of them together.

I decided to take it with me to a friend’s party. We opened the bottle and let it breathe for awhile then settled down with a few snacks. The aroma was rich and had a hint of blackberry. In the mouth there was a lot of flavor with a velvety finish and just the right amount of spice. I would definitely call this a decadent wine without being overly zesty. It would go well with a juicy steak or a lobster. I actually loved this wine and would definitely recommend it. It’s perfect for a get together or romantic dinner and priced at $15 a bottle, you get the taste and look of a more expensive wine without spending a small fortune!
