Wild Florida: Business & Babies are Booming at Wild Florida’s Wildlife Park!

wild florida

(OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla.)—Wild Florida is proud to announce the births of a bevy of bouncing babies-some critically endangered-that are thriving and melting hearts at its Wildlife Park in Kenansville, Fla.

Phoenix and Rain, two extremely curious, baby twin red-ruffed lemurs, were born at Wild Florida on April 29. Native to Madagascar, red-ruffed lemurs are one of the island’s largest primates with a height and tail-length of approximately 2-feet, respectively. Due to logging and habitat encroachment, the International Union of Conservation Nation placed the red-ruffed lemur on its critically endangered list. In captivity, red-ruffed lemurs can live beyond 30 years. Phoenix and Rain love to munch on fruits, veggies and ‘lemur’ biscuits. Mommy “Lucy” is doing just fine.

Dad “Guy” and Mom “Ana,” native to the country of Guyana, South America, recently gave birth to this adorable baby sloth on May 22 at Wild Florida. While this little guy is classified as a two-toed sloth, two-toed sloths actually have two fingers and three toes. While he will eventually grow up and spend his life hanging upside down from the trees like his parents, he’s definitely enjoying playtime with his favorite Wild Florida trainers.

Duke and Duchess, baby bobcats born April 7, are now on display to the public at Wild Florida! Weighing in right around 5 pounds now, Duke and Duchess are curious as cats, super rambunctious, and love playing with Trigger, Wild Florida’s baby white-tailed buck (see below). Bobcats are native to North America, thrive in the humid swamps of Florida, and can live up to 30 years in captivity. Wild Florida is offering guests an exclusive opportunity to interact and play with the babies for a small fee.

Meet Trigger, the baby white-tailed buck that indeed is BFFs with the baby bobcats. Born May 21, Trigger loves to eat plants, grass, acorns and fruit. Did you know a white-tailed deer has a special stomach that allows it to eat poisonous wild mushrooms and plants? A white-tailed deer actually has a four-chambered stomach that allows it to consume food and digest it later in a safer setting. Wild Florida is also offering guests an exclusive opportunity to interact with Trigger, a white-tailed deer that’s native to Florida, for a small fee.

The baby lemurs and sloth are expected to be on display to the public late summer. Exclusive interactions with the baby bobcats and baby deer cost $20. Other animal interactions include adult sloths, foxes, and porcupines. For more information on the animal interactions, please contact Wild Florida at 407-957-3135 and ask for Animal Experience. For more information on the babies, please contact Candice Coleman at 314-606-1167.
