Cincinnati: $2 off Blooms & Berries Farm @usfg

Bloom and Berries Farm
Looking for an awesome, family-friendly Fall experience? Be sure to check out Fall on the Farm at Blooms and Berries. My favorite part of the year is fall, just for the colors, smells, festivals and fun at local farms! I love taking fall pictures with my kiddos and enjoy watching them run through the maze, hunting for the perfect pumpkin and just having a blast checking out all the farm animals!

This 61-acre family farm located in Loveland, Ohio, offers a day’s worth of Fall favorites for the whole family. Start by taking a 30-minute hayride through the “I Spy” woods and out to the pumpkin patch. Then, explore the play Corn Sand Box Bloom and Berries Farmarea’s “sand” box filled with corn, the tractor-tire mountain and the giant 20-foot slide. If you’re up for a challenge, see if you can solve the Great Honey Caper game in the 7-acre corn maze. There’s also a kid’s corn maze that’s perfect for the little ones. Speaking of the kids, they will love the cow train ride, and they will get a chance to meet a bunch of farm animal friends – goats, miniature donkeys, cows, lambs, ducks, chickens, turkeys and bunnies.Goat at Bloom and Berries Farm

Get Your Fun on at Old West Festival 2015 + Giveaway Ends 10/5

Old West Festival Logo

Old West Festival Rides into Town for Eighth Year

Cowboys, Gunslingers, Trick Riding and More
Bring Wild West to Life

Looking for a boot scootin’ good time this fall? Look now further than the Old West Festival in Williamsburg, Ohio! Celebrating their 8th year of live music, action packed performances, amazing food and fun rides to keep the whole family entertained!

The western-themed festival rolls back in town for another season of boot stompin’ family fun on Saturdays and Sundays – September 12 through October 18, 2015. Located at its permanent site, just 15 minutes from I-275, east of Cincinnati, the Old West Festival transports visitors back in time to a historic American era, the Wild West.

Drawing more than 20,000 visitors each fall, the permanent old west town is home to everything you would expect to see in Dodge City circa 1878. Attendees will enjoy historically accurate medicine and saloon shows, can-can dancers, gunfights, jailbreaks, and more. Period re-enactors will also be found walking the streets and performing the roles of cowboys, cowgirls, store owners, residents, and of course, outlaws.

Rope RiderOther performers will be ‘round town as well. Magician Jason Jacobs will amaze, bewilder and astonish with his magical flare and the Pickled Brothers will shock with their mind-boggling performances. Trick rider Abigail Petersen will impress audiences with her horsemanship and daring stunts, while visitors to the Long Branch Saloon will enjoy shows by world champion roper Rider Keisner, and folks will no doubt get a “kick” out of Miss Melody Star and her Hurdy Gurdy Dancing Girls.

And what would the old west be without a good ole’ fashioned gunfight? Back by popular demand, four times daily starting at high noon, the Big Irons Rangers return with their gunfight re-enactments and trick shooting. In between shows they, and other period interpreters, will be walking the grounds to meet visitors and pose for photos.

They can also enjoy old-timey puppet and magic shows, storytelling and sing-a-longs. The youngsters can also participate in historic games, and even cross the frontier in a covered wagon.

Abigail Old West FestivalThemed weekends add to the experience of the Old West Festival and include Western Film Weekend (New this year) Sept. 12-13; Romance Weekend Sept. 19-20; America’s Pastime Weekend Sept. 26-27; Steampunk Weekend Oct. 3-4; OctoBEERfest Weekend (New this year, in partnership with Rhinegeist) Oct. 10-11; and Halloween Weekend Oct. 17-18.

To celebrate the opening of another season, the Old West Festival presents Western Film Weekend. Iconic scenes of cowboys riding into the sunset, saloon brawls and gunfights have shaped our idea of the Wild West. Guests will enjoy screenings from classic movies, experience a lively panel discussion and meet the cast and crew from Revelation Trail, a western film shot on the grounds of the Old West Festival.

Tickets to the Old West Festival can be purchased for $12, $6 for children ages 6-12, children 5 and under admitted for free. Parking is free and the festival will be held, rain or shine. Tickets are available at a discounted rate in advance at www.oldwestfestival.com.

Celebrate Shark Week at Newport Aquarium!

Newport Aquarium, the Shark Capital of the Midwest, announces Shark Week activities

Aquarium joins Species Survival Plan for zebra sharks, to add 2 females on exhibit

NEWPORT, Ky. — The introduction of two female zebra sharks highlights a jaw-some lineup of Shark Week (July 5-12) activities at Newport Aquarium.

The addition of the two female zebra sharks will increase the number of exhibited sharks at Newport Aquarium to 56 across 15 species, the most shark at newport aqauriumin the Midwest.

As part of a breeding program sanctioned by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), both female zebra sharks will be introduced to the Coral Reef tunnel during a media event on July 6. The two females will eventually make their way to the Surrounded by Sharks tank, where two adult male zebra sharks reside.

The AZA’s Species Survival Plan for zebra sharks calls for accredited institutions to help develop the population by arranging for biologically distant matches to meet in environments conducive to mating.

From touching sharks, to viewing sharks above, below and around, the most shark-infested place to celebrate Shark Week is Newport Aquarium, where there is always more new to see and do:

·         Shark Bridge – Guests can experience sharks like never before by crossing the world’s first and only Shark Bridge. Included with admission, the Shark Bridge is a 75-foot-long rope suspension bridge that hangs just inches above nearly two dozen sharks.

·         Surrounded by Sharks – Newport Aquarium’s signature exhibit, guests can travel through an 85-foot-long acrylic tunnel inside a 385,000-gallon tank as seven species of shark – scalloped hammerhead, sand tiger, whitetip, blacktip, zebra, sandbar and nurse – swim over and above.

·         Shark Tank Dive Shows – Guests catch their first and largest views of shark rays and sharks at the Shark Ray Bay Theater, where our shark dive shows feature a scuba diver addressing and taking questions from the audience about the biology and conservation of sharks and other animals found inside the tank. (July 5 and July 10-12: Noon, 12:20 p.m., 12:40 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:20 p.m. and 2:40 p.m.)

·         Shark Feedings – Newport Aquarium performs public feedings for its sharks and shark rays, where guests can watch biologists feed from either the Shark Ray Bay Theater, the Surrounded by Sharks tunnels, or through a biologist’s point-of-view from the Shark Tank Overlook. (Shark tank feed 11 a.m. July 6 and July 8; Large shark feed 11 a.m. July 7; Shark ray feedings 1:30 p.m. July 6-10)

·         Shark Touch Pool – At the Shark Central exhibit, guests have the opportunity to touch dozens of sharks. An Animal Experience Specialist teaches guests the proper technique to touch sharks and helps them understand each species in this international collection. (9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily)

·         Sharks After Dark Overnight – Guests can sink their teeth into some great shark facts and sleep safely as they swim above. Every Overnight Adventure includes exclusive aquarium access, shark-themed games and activities. (7:30 p.m. July 10)

·         Shark Week T-Shirts for Conservation – Officially licensed Discovery Channel Shark Week T-shirts will be available for purchase at the Newport Aquarium gift shop starting July 5. A portion of the revenue generated from these Shark Week tees will be donated to the WAVE Foundation at Newport Aquarium, which supports aquatic conservation.
