One of our goals this year, not only for myself, but for my family as well is to eat better and for my hubby and I to drop a few pounds! One spot that my hubby and I both have problems with is belly fat! It never seems to go away and just looking at food, I seem to gain 2 more pounds around my waist!

My hubby was my guinea pig on this one, since he feels that he has the least amount of time to work out and slim his belly! After just one week he did notice a difference in his waist line! He started out slow and follow their step by step basic exercises like Basic Planks, Arm Circles, Swingin Abs, Chair Leg Raises, Laying Leg Raises Oblique Planks- which he thought was great since he could do them at home with out the need of a expensive gym! I am sticking to this routine, since I don’t seem to like exercise as much as the hubby! Although these moves are simple enough for me to do throughout the day, between chores, driving the kiddos back and forth to school and running errands, which I love!

Once you have mastered the basics, you can head right on into the Super Belly Blasters which can help you drop belly fat pretty quickly. I am still working my way up to these, but the hubby had no problem! There is a Week by Week Workout schedule to help you keep on track with what you should be accomplishing each day during your Belly Fat workout! Even though exercise is key to helping you burn the belly fat, you need to incorporate better and healthier foods into your diet to keep that belly fat in check!

Knowing what you are eating and what is in your food is going to help you learn quickly what is good for you and what is not! Chapter 11 has a whole section dedicated to decoding food labels and nutritional claims on packaging! There are many things that I did not know, that there is a difference in the meaning of low calorie, light calories, low fat and light fat! I guess I had just always assumed that they all pretty much meant the same thing, but there is a break down of what each claim means!

Here is one of my favorite recipes from the book- Berry Smoothies! This was great to be able to make ahead of time and take with me on the go!

Belly Blasting Berry Smoothie Recipe- 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of fat free plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen organic berries (blueberries, strawberries, etc)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup of ice

Directions:

  • In blender combine all ingredients until desired consistency

294 calories per serving, 5g fat, 23 g of protein
