Now That Christmas is Over, It’s Time To Shop!

IMG_4741Now that Christmas has come and gone, it is time to hit the end of year sales and start shopping for next Christmas! I know that may seem a little crazy, but this time of year is when you are able to grab some pretty hot deals! Especially Christmas decorations, winter attire and toys! Stores are now making way for items such as weight loss products, exercise equipment and Valentine’s Day items- so items left over from the holiday shopping season are making their way out the door at rock bottom prices!

Christmas decorations are now marked down 50% to 75% off regular price and this is the time to grab as much as you can! I always stock up on wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper and gift tags- savings tons of money. A roll of wrapping paper can cost around $3 a roll, at 75% off you are only playing .75 each roll, meaning you could grab 4 rolls on sale for what you would normally pay for one before the holiday sales! I also grab a few more Christmas tree decorations each year to add to the tree- this is how I have 3 different themes for our tree and rotate each year. Paying full price for 3 sets of tree decorations would have cost us a fortune, but with deep sales, I got them for basically pennies! Outdoor decorations are another great item to snag now to save you big! Some of these outdoor decorations for Christmas can run as much as $200 or more, depending on the item. So getting them now at such a great price and storing til next year, can help keep your Christmas budget under control next year! Plus I always feel like I get extra presents when I get to go out to the garage and open our Christmas totes filled with items I got on sale the Christmas before!
I have 3 children who are always growing out of things, loosing items and getting something on all their nice clothes! Baby clothes and kids clothes for the winter will start going on sale at 50% off or more making way for the spring! I love finding pants, coats and cold weather attire for the next year at rock bottom prices! You do have to get really good at guessing what your kiddos will wear a year from now, but it can pay off big in the end! Last year I was able to get 3 brand new coats from Old Navy for my girls for $40 total! I do this year round to help keep our clothing budget on track!

Now yes you just spent the last 6 -8 weeks hitting the stores looking for those must have toys for your family, so shopping now for more toys may seem like a little overkill. But this is the time to grab some hot deals and save you big time on your Christmas budget for next year! This will also save you some time and your sanity by staying home during these crazy shopping days leading up to Christmas next year. I keep a notebook in my purse and write down every gift I purchase for the next year. This way I know what I already bought and who for! I then hide these gifts in totes in our attic so that the kiddos can’t find them. This is great, because I always have great gifts on hand and at a great price! Once November hits, I am left only having to buy a few gifts for friends and family!

Items To Stockpile In January

My stock-up price is when an item is 60% -75% off regular price and for the most part everything we buy goes on sale every 3-4 months. But there are products that only go on sale certain times of the year and become extremely cheaper compared to normal. Here are items you need to stock up on during the month of April!

  • Christmas Decorations & Supplies: This time of year everyone is clearing out Christmas puke to make way for Valentine’s Day, Easter and Swim Suits! Yes you read that right, I already saw them in the stores this week! So grab a tote and fill it with things you know you need for next year’s holiday season that you will get for pennies! This is the time to by extra ornaments, Christmas cards, gift bags, wrapping paper, stocking stuffers, toys, perfume sets, and the list goes on and on! Anything you bought before the holidays is now 75% so buy it for next year to save big during the holiday season!
  • Fitness & Healthy Living Items: Everyone sets that goal as their New Year’s Resolution to get fit, be healthy and become a better you! So take advantage of this, even if it is not yours! Gym memberships are super cheap, yoga pants, exercise equipment, and kitchen items like juicers are just the beginning of the items you will find on sale and deep discount! So if there was ever a time you needed any of these items, this is the time to buy at the lowest price!
  • Vehicles: Most dealerships are looking to clear lots to make way for newer models. They will discount older cars to make way for the new, so head out and check out what you can find! And don’t be afraid to ask for it cheaper! Most of the time they are willing to go even lower than marked to get it off their lot!
  • Super Bowl Foods: This time of year you will see all kinds of products being promoted with Super Bowl logos on them! These items are great for your parties, but great to stockpile in the kitchen as most of these items are usually on great sales to promote the Bowl! So chips, crackers, soda and snack like items are great to keep in the pantry for kiddos lunches or after school snacks!
  • Oatmeal Month: It is National Oatmeal Month which means most oatmeal and breakfast type foods will be on sale! So keep an eye out for Quaker sales!
  • Cold & Flu Medicines: Everyone is always in need of medicine and this time of year is usually the worse! So stock up on those hot deals and don’t just buy enough to get you through this month, check expiration dates and stockpile enough for a few months! If your kiddos are anything like mine, they gets cold all year! So To get a bottle of Triaminic now for $2 vs $8 in July, is a huge savings!

Gobble Away Your Fears with My Amazing Monster

my amazing monster logoWhile attending the Chicago Toy Fair we had the pleasure meeting the author, Beth Cimler, of The Amazing Monster Goes to the Hospital book and creator of Amazing Monster! I actually passed her booth twice and thought it was just another stuffed animal and was not really interested. After passing later in the day and hearing Beth talking to a family about the Monster and the book, I quickly became intrigued!

The Amazing Monster, Gobble, is a very special monster that when he receives messages, he gobbles them away helping your kiddo feel better. My youngest daughter has anxiety for just about anything! She panics over going to the doctor to get shots, getting her tooth pulled or talking in front of her class at school! So having a friend that she can take every where with and give messages filled with her fears for him to gobble away for her, it AMAZING! My Amazing Monster is something that anyone can use, not just the kiddos!

Gobble is easy to use, simply write down your worry or troubles on a piece of paper, crumble it up and let him eat away your problems! As parents we can unzip the back of Gobble and find out what is troubling our kiddos! At the Chicago Toy Fair, Beth told me about a story of a young boy receiving chemo treatments and instead of sharing that the port to his chemo was hurting and aggravating his skin, he felt he needed to be strong and not share with his family. He then gave Gobble something to eat with a message sharing his pain. His parents then shared with the nurses allowing them the opportunity to adjust the placement of his port and make his chemo treatments more comfortable! We teach our kiddos to be strong but we never want them to be unhappy or in pain in anyway, this way we can help without them even knowing!!

Gobble, The Amazing Monster, is easy to care for, he just needs some basics!

1. Gobble likes to be hugged at least once a day. Just close your eyes & imagine him on his amazing mission with you.

2. He can only digest the nuggets once everyone is asleep. It’s nothing personal…it’s just that his tummy makes these funny gurgling noises and it’s a little embarrassing for him. I’m sure you understand.

3. Take him to your doctor appointments because he doesn’t mind getting things done to him first. But, keep an eye on him….he gets a little rambunctious. That’s it! Those are the rules! Piece of cake.

About the Author:
Beth Cimler, Author of My Amazing Monster Goes to the Hospital and Creator of Gobble The Amazing Monster. When her father was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Disease, hospital visits became a regular thing and was very stressful and scary for their whole family. After reading an article in the newspaper about a women battling cancer and used a technique imagining a monster eating away her cancer and how it was a positive influence on her recovery! Beth then thought she needed something like that for her father to help him! She then bought a monster for her father to take with him, nurses began to notice and ask about it! The monster brought great attention and brighten his day with each visit.

Monster worked his magic with her dad for 16 years, reminding him that he was so loved and supported in his fight against Heart Disease. In April, 2001, Monster sat front and center at her dad’s funeral, where she introduced him to all of the people who loved her dad.  Today, Monster sits on her bedside table. He watches over her and her beautiful family. He travels to doctor appointments and stays in the hospital, when necessary…

…and he inspired a heart-warming story.

You can order My Amazing Monster for $30 each which includes:my monster

Warning: This Packages Contains POOP!!

poop gameWhile attending the Chicago Toy Fair a few weeks ago, we had so much fun playing with toys, checking out new games and finding super cool, interesting activities that my girls just loved! I have to tell you when we stopped by the Breaking Games booth that had a game called The POOP Game, I just had to have it! My oldest daughter thought it was funny to tell a person walking down the street from my van window one afternoon that she “pooped today”. The lady laughed, we laughed and now we talk about how she “pooped today” all the time! So to find a game that is called The POOP Game, I knew she needed it!!

The POOP Game is an fairly easy game to play and if you have ever played UNO, then you have the gist! POOP is a card game where the first player to run out of cards wins! Take turns pooping but don’t clog the toilet! Some cards make players perform crazy acts which are a complete hoot. You can play POOP with up to 10 players when combined with the Party Pooper Edition.

This game is great for getting the family or your friends together and could be a great way to get those little ones adding! This game could get you talking more about POOP, which can be a good and bad thing! My girls think it’s funny to say POOP whenever we are in public to see if people look at them! So I know now that we have The POOP Game, it will most liekly be discussed more!

This is a great family friendly game and everyone will love it! It is recommended for ages 5 and older but if you have younger ones that can play UNO then they can play this!

Breaking Games is a unique company. Founded by Shari Spiro of AdMagic, Breaking Games is a promotion and publishing company dedicated to getting their client’s games into the hands of people who love to play them. They are unique in that they promote the game and the designer above the company because they are the stars.

You can grab this game on Breaking Games site or on Amazon for about $10 each! They also carry games such as Gothic Doctor, Word Shuffle, Hogger Logger, Parenthood and Games of Phones! If you are looking for interesting games to play with the family, friends or party, these will sure to be the talk of your next game night!

You can find The POOP Game and other Breaking Game games on the following:
