Walgreens
One way to stretch your budget is to learn how to roll your Extra Care Bucks (CVS), Register Rewards (Walgreens) or Catalina’s (grocery store). If you are not familiar with shopping at CVS or Walgreens check out how to get started below.

Rolling is a term that refers to Extra Care Bucks(CVS), Register Rewards(Walgreens) or Catalina(Grocery Store) coupons. These are additional coupons that you earn for $$ off your next purchase for purchasing specific items in one transaction.
Rolling is when you use Extra Care Bucks(CVS), Register Rewards(Walgreens) or Catalina(Grocery Store) coupons to pay for your next purchase, then in return the items you are purchasing will give you additional Extra Care Bucks(CVS), Register Rewards(Walgreens) or Catalina(Grocery Store) coupons, to then use for your next transaction. Rolling is a simple idea, but you do need to know how to properly use them at each store.

Walgreens offers Register Rewards.
Walgreens Register Rewards are a little tricky to use, especially if you want to roll them. You can not roll Register Rewards on the same item. This is were you can use the Register Rewards that print from one offer to then turn around and purchase the same item again and again reusing the Register Rewards to pay for the next purchase that offers a Register Rewards. Confused yet? Here is an example of what rolling mean…..

For example you buy a Gillette Razor for $8.99 each, get back a $4 RR and then later that week want to go back and get another razor and another RR. You can purchase the 2nd razor and use the first RR to pay for it but another RR will not print out. Why? Because it is for the same item (or company). They will not let you do this. You can use another RR from another product to pay for and a new RR will print out for this offer as long as it is not from the same company. See example below…..

Sale ad says…
Buy 1 Gillette Razor at $8.99 each, get back a $4 Register Rewards, you also have a $4 manufacturer coupon, this is what you can do.

 Transaction 1…….
Buy 1 Gillette Fusion at $8.99 each
use 1 Gillette Fusion manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1

pay $4.99 out of pocket, get back $4 Register Rewards

Transaction 2…..
Buy another Gillette Fusion at $8.99 each
use another Gillette Fusion manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1
use $4.00 Register Rewards from first transaction

= pay .99 out of pocket, but you will not get back $4 Register Rewards

The reason why the second Register Rewards will not print out is because, the original Register Rewards is for the same product. But you can do this….

Sale ad says…
Buy 1 Gillette Razor at $8.99 each, get back a $4 Register Rewards, use a $4 manufacturer coupon

Buy 1 Complete Contact Solution at $8.99 each, get back a $4 Register Rewards, use a $4 manufacturer coupon

Transaction 1…….
Buy 1 Gillette Fusion at $8.99 each
use 1 Gillette Fusion manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1

pay $4.99 out of pocket, get back $4 Register Rewards

Transaction 2…..
Buy Complete Contact Solution at $8.99 each
use Complete Contact Solution manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1
use $4.00 Register Rewards from first transaction

= pay .99 out of pocket, get back $4 Register Rewards

Transaction 3…….
Buy 1 Gillette Fusion at $8.99 each
use 1 Gillette Fusion manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1
use $4.00 Register Rewards from Contact Solution transaction

pay .99 out of pocket, get back $4 Register Rewards

and so on and so on….

Walgreens does only allow you to get 1 Register Rewards offer per transaction per offer, but most locations do not mind that you do more than one transaction. Again this is based on your manager decision.  This is called rolling.

CVS offers Extra Care Bucks.
CVS is great for letting you roll your Extra Care Bucks. This is were you can use the Extra Care Bucks that print from one offer to then turn around and purchase the same item again and again reusing the Extra Care Bucks to pay for the next purchase that offers a Extra Care Buck. Confused yet? Here is an example of what rolling mean…..

For example you can purchase a Gillette razor at $8.99 each, get a $4ECB, turn right around and purchase another razor, use the first ECB to pay for it and then get another $4ECB back. This is called rolling. CVS does have limits on how many you can do for a particular item but they are a whole lot rolling friendly compared to Walgreens.  See example below…..

Sale ad says…
Buy 1 Gillette Razor at $8.99 each, get back a $4 Extra Care Buck (limit 3), you also have a $4 manufacturer coupon, this is what you can do.

Transaction 1…….
Buy 1 Gillette Fusion at $8.99 each
use 1 Gillette Fusion manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1

pay $4.99 out of pocket, get back $4 Extra Care Bucks

Transaction 2…..
Buy another Gillette Fusion at $8.99 each
use another Gillette Fusion manufacturer coupon $4.00 off 1
use $4.00 Extra Care Bucks from first transaction

= pay .99 out of pocket, get back $4 Extra Care Bucks

and so on….

CVS does set a limit in their ads as to how many Extra Care Bucks you can get back. But they do allow you to use the Extra Care Bucks for the same product over and over again within the limit set in the ad, unlike Walgreens.

Grocery Stores offer Catalina’s.
Most grocery stores offer Catalina coupons for purchasing a certain amount of products to get back a $$ off your next purchase coupon. You can then use these coupons to buy the same items to, use the Catalina coupon from the first order to pay for the second and then receive additional Catalina coupons for making the second purchase. Confused yet? Here is an example of what rolling mean…..

Sale ad says…
Buy 4 Dole canned pineapples at .50 each and receive a $1 off your next purchase Catalina Coupon

Transaction 1…….
Buy 4 Dole canned Pineapples on sale for .50 each

pay $2 out of pocket, get back $1 Catalina Coupon

Transaction 2…..
Buy 4 more Dole Canned Pineapples on sale for .50 each
use $1 Catalina Coupon from 1st transaction

= pay $1 out of pocket, get back $1 Catalina Coupon

and so on and so on….

There has been a few offers that will state that a new Catalina coupon will not print if used in the same transaction, so make sure to read the fine print before heading to the checkout line.
