“M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! Mickey Mouse!”
The Disney Store is probably one of our families favorite store to visit! We were very sad when all of our local stores closed, but we don’t have to be sad any more! Disney has opened it’s first Ohio store in the Kenwood Town Center Mall and had their Grand Opening yesterday. Our 3 year old and myself got a opportunity to get a behind the scene look at all the creative design behind their new location!
We got a full hour to tour the store before it opened for it’s Grand Opening on Wednesday and I have to say with much excitement, I love it! This store was beautiful! One of the most unique design aspect of the new store was how they incorporated the city of Cincinnati into the background. As you can see in the picture above, they have the Suspension Bridge from downtown Cincinnati with Cinderella’s Coach riding across! They also had the Union Terminal in another part of the store with Belle & Beast, as well! This Disney Store is a great fit for Cincinnati and everyone is glad that they are back!
The Kenwood Disney Store was filled with interactive activities for the kiddos to enjoy while visiting the store! You can see Tinkerbell and Buzz Lightyear buzz throughout the store as they fly by along the backdrop of the store. Follow along the blue path sprinkled with fairy dust to find hidden treasures on their whimsical trees! I think our 3 year old’s favorite part was the princess Magic Mirrors. They have 3 mirrors that the kiddos can admire themselves in but there is one special touch! Grab any character wand or crown through out the store, wave it across the mirror and see a special message from your favorite Disney Princess character!
You can also select what you want to watch while hanging out at their back coloring table! On these screens to the right you can choose what you would like to watch on that big screen in the back! This interactive screen was a favorite of all the kiddos at the store! Our 3 year old thought it was funny to have the Phines & Ferb Ants In My Pants Video play over and over again!!
This store has everything including their new fragrance and candle line, Imagination! They all smelled so wonderful! Toy Story (my favorite), Spiderman, Cars 2 and Mickey & Minnie Collections of toys and accessories galore! This is a kiddos dream come true. Costumes, bags, plush dolls & animals, water bottles and so much more! Now trying to get the kiddos out of the store will be your only problem!!
Some features of the new Cincinnati Disney Store:
- The opening of Disney Store at Kenwood Towne Center is one of over 40 newly-designed Disney Stores opening in North America in 2011.
- The 4,718 square foot store is more than a retail store. Disney Store is a destination that brings Disney stories to life.
- Disney Store at Kenwood Towne Center has a unique skyline featuring local Cincinnati landmarks integrated with Disney classic Disney characters:
o Aladdin and Jasmine can be spotted in the gazebo at Mirror Lake in the beautiful and popular Eden Park. Mirror Lake is also home to the Balluminaria ‘balloon glow’ event where hot air balloons are staged around the edge of the Lake. Carl (Up), flies by to see these beautiful glowing balloons in his own makeshift helium balloon airship.
o Nearby in the park, Flynn Rider scales a local landmark, a 172-foot high water tower built in 1894.
o Belle and Beast take a stroll by the fountain in front of the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal.
o Catch a glimpse of Cinderella’s Coach racing across the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge. This historic landmark has been a symbol of the city since 1866, and was at that time the world’s longest suspension bridge.
o In honor of Cincinnati, Disney’s famed Mark Twain Riverboat cruises down the Ohio River, complete with a live jazz performance by Scat Cat and his Band (The Aristocats)
o Characters catch carriage rides near the Tyler Davidson Fountain, the centerpiece of Fountain Square.
