With out having a laptop ( I know we need to join the 21st century) in the house, I really did not think that we needed a WiFi router. But after getting a new printer and a new Wii, I started to realize how much we were missing out on. When loading our new printer, it asked me if I had a WiFi connection to allow my printer to be wireless. I thought to myself, why do I need that. I soon found out that with WiFi connection any laptop or computer in the whole house can then send items to the wireless printer and print documents that you need, without having to find the printer and connect all the cables. I know, this may be old news to some of you, but since we mainly use our desktop for everything, I tend to just stick to using everything linked into it.
We also realized with our new Wii that you can use WiFi to get additional games as well as link up to Netflix and watch movies directly on our tv through our Wii with WiFi connection! So why all this talk about WiFi you ask? Well thanks to Cisco, I got the opportunity to try out their new Linksys E4200 WiFi Router last month and I have to say I was super impressed.
First, when I received the box for my new Linksys E4200 WiFi Router I was afraid that it was going to be this very long, confusing set up, connecting wires and adding programs to my computer, I was scared! But after seeing that it was just 2 cables, the Linksys E4200 WiFi Router and a disc, I soon realized it was going to be a piece of cake. After loading the disc and walking through their very easy 3 step set up, then connecting the cables, I was set up for WiFi connection in just a few minutes!
Some of the benefits of having the Linksys E4200 WiFi Router boosts speed, has built in USB port, has great coverage and quick to install and manage. Not to mention the easy access to a wireless printer and Netflix through our Wii! I have to say that after using the Linksys E4200 WiFi Router for more than a month now, I not only seem to get things done faster but now have access to things we never knew were possible.
- Simultaneous Dual-Band N (2.4 & 5 GHz)
- Gigabit Ethernet 4-port switch
